I love my Dad

What can you say, these pictures say it all.

All smiles here!

Michael is happiest in the early morning, I caught him in a good mood and was able to get some of his first smiles. Why is it that a smiling baby has the ability to alleviate stress and worry just by smiling?

You would think with the development of IPADs and smart phones someone would have been able to bottle baby smiles by now.

Perhaps in the inability to bottle them is what makes them so special, it's simply life at its best.

What babies do best

I captured Michael doing what babies do best. Poop.
Yeah, yeah, I posted my kid taking a poop. Honestly though he's darn cute doing it.

Being a baby

Doing what they do best....

Do you see what I see?

Michael has finally started to recognize objects and is able to follow them with his eyes.
This has been quite a treat for Mom and Dad!
Black & white contrast along with the color red really stand out for him.
This was really the first time we got to "play" with him.

Mudders Day

It was a WONDERFUL first mothers day. Michael got me a very sweet card, his father said he picked it out himself. We spent the early morning just being a family. Then we headed out to Grandma Rowans house for some food and fun with Jane!

Dinner was delicious and Michael and Jane wooed all the guests. Hugo got to play with his buddies and even posed for a pretty cute shot by the chair.

Aunt Kathy made a late appearance and got to meet Jane. It was truly a wonderful day with so many mothers!!

Lazy Sunday Morning

The video speaks for itself.

Full Belly

This week Michael reached the 6 week mark! 6 weeks were met with a very grumpy baby. This was a new experience for mom and dad since Michael had always been so pleasant, I guess he is allowed to have a variety of moods, just like his mom.

In addtion to a new mood, Dad FINALLY got to feed him. We got some shots of Michael gulping down his first bottle finishing with a huge burp. Its so funny, if the average adult let one of those burps rip it would be met with contempt, but you get a cute little baby to do it and things are quite acceptable.

Afterward he passed out on the boppy with his mouth hanging wide open much like his father. It was apparent he was truly satisfied.

No BUTT about it

Michael and Jane spent their day together chatting of foreign affairs and how they would solve the worlds problems. An interesting issue came up about the environment and that nasty oil spill in the gulf.

Michael and Jane discussed at length and decided that a simple solution is to look at the Earth like a baby's butt ( which is one thing they know) it's beautiful and mesmerizing in so many ways, but can become the messiest thing if it isn't taken are of properly.

I have a video of the deep discussion that went on between them....

A new arrival

Yesterday Michael FINALLY got to meet his new cousin Jane Marie. After braving the Chicago traffic we finally got to Aunt Lauren's & Uncle Aaron's house. Introductions went quite well, you would have thought the paparazzi was present with all the flash photography that went on. The day went well and I'm not going to lie having two babies together like that gave us a glimpse of what it would be like to have twins....its was a little scary!

Even though Michael is the same size as Jane, he certainly looked confident that he knew what was up! I can here him now.....Hey Jane, let me show you what's going on here in the world outside of mom! It was pleasure to spend the day with my sister and her new family, its amazing to think that we went from pulling each others hair and stealing each others clothes, to becoming mothers together. I'm so glad I get to share this with her.

A little too soon!

Michael got his first hickey on Sunday, fortunately it was done by himself ( he is a little to young for girls!) He likes to suck on his arm when self soothing, apparently he did it a little too hard!

Before & After

Michael has been doing more tummy time I cant wait to see him pull himself up! Its quite a workout for him and in doing so he gets frustrated, fortunately for us he is easily calmed.

Down for the count

Babies are so silly as most of us know. Michael likes to be propped up so he can see his surroundings. Many attempts are made at this and he tries to hold is own, but its inevitable at this point that he will go down for the count. He makes it look really cute though...check out the videos.

Sizing things up

Babies are small, we all know this. But I don't think that people remember how small babies REALLY are. Many of my friends and family couldn't believe how small Michael was.

We decided to take some pictures to capture the true "size" of Michael. From his feet to his arms he is a tiny little guy. That's my thumb on his foot, and its Tony's pointer finger next to his arm.
