Montessori

This week marks the start of something new for Michael and our family. Michael began his first week of Montessori preschool. To be honest I didnt realzie how big of a deal it was until it was actually happening. It hasnt been the easiest transition but he is getting the hang of it, learning new things and making new friends.

How fascinating and completely debilitating it is to see your child grow and experience the same fears and excitement you did.I am learning so much about myself ( more than I want to at times!) But this is life, this is why we are here, to experience. Tony and I set to foster the best possible experience for our children. This began with Carolyn (my aunt) and her absolute kindness and compassion for our children. Penny now experiences an environment of structure, love, kindness and fun. Each day she is talked to, smiled at, laughed with, and supported in her environment. We couldn't be more grateful for the time she gets to spend with "Mrs. Carolyn."

Michael is now at a new stage, and while its scary for him and his parents....he is going to change in ways that shape who he is and will become. I'm so grateful that we are able to do this for him. Allowing him to have freedom within limits!

"The child is the creator of the adult and, therefore, education must be a help to the child so he/she can develop to his/her fullest potential. This growth must be observed and aided with deep respect and ongoing trust. Respect for one's self; respect for one's classmates, teachers, and all others; respect for the environment inside and outside of the classroom and for all living beings are cornerstones of our philosophy."

The school was kind enough to send us some pictures of his first week there, check em out!
