2016 School days have begun!

The 2016/2017 school year is under way!
Penny is back to Room 2 at Montessori with Mrs Carly as her teacher. This year she is on her own in the classroom without her big brother. While she expressed being sad without him, she seems to be quite excited about being able to be on her own in the class. And from the picture below is having no trouble making friends.

Week 1 was met with the practical life, the sound table and her first stab at the hundred board. She has been the line leader, book shelf helper and snack helper. I must say I get a wealth of information on her her day has been! She goes through her daily routine with me and many times is upset when I come pick her up because she wants to continue her work.  It's simply marvelous. Tony and I are so excited to see how this next year plays out for her, we know her growth will be amazing!

Michael began 1st grade this year, a new school, new rules and new teachers. We are now Windsor Wildcats! Rawr! We couldn't be happier with the administration and teachers. Michael described his first week of school as perfect, he found the chocolate milk and received a red, white and blue Popsicle on the first week, so yeah Mom, 1st Grade is pretty perfect. For us, of course, that was a fantastic way to start off the week. He is making new friends, choosing his own lunch ( oh boy..) and participating in the chess club.

1 st day of 1st grade

What a great time for our family, this blog always gives me a chance to sit back and reflect on how grateful we are for all the things we have been given and are able to give back. The teachers and administrators involved in our children's development are invaluable, we couldn't be happier with the outcomes the kids have had. Education is so important in a child's life, the fact that the kids are also allowed to explore, laugh, and enjoy... is icing on the cake.
