Moms night 2015

Another year at NSMS and another moms night. This is really a great way for the parent to see what is happening in the classroom. We began the evening at practical life, building a sea scape out of Kinetic sand. Michael also chose to wash the windows and the classroom mirror. ( A boy after my own heart!)

This year Michael engaged with a number of kids in the classroom. He worked on the Pink Tower and Brown Stair with his friend Neal. We spent the majority of the evening on the carpet area completing skip counting work. Michael is very interested in numbers, he has completed this work several times which is great considering the greater portion of March was at the 100 board. ( I know I know, the child will move to something else when HE is ready, not when MOM is ready) I can hear Maria Montessori chanting that in my head as I type....

After work we sat on line and ran through the line routine. It incorporates a number of songs, the days of the week, the weather ect. A great way to set the expectation for that day. Lastly, the children put together a special song and made a chocolate rose for the moms.

Kudos to you NSMS for another spectacular evening!

Skip counting by 3s 4s and 5s!

Spring has Sprung!

Over the last several weeks a few things have been going with MPG and Penny, we had a birthday, which of course I'm sure you all read about.....

Michael celebrated the 100th day of school, for the 2014/2015 school year. Its very big deal in the classroom!

Room 2 celebrated spring in the classroom.  We may have had April showers outside but inside we were bubbling with spring excitement!

They grabbed our handmade baskets put on our ears and hunted for eggs.  The twist was you could only pick up the three with your name on them.

Michael also spent a few days of Spring break with his Grandpa. They ate pizza and checked out cool cars at the auto museum. THANKS GRANDPA for spending time with him, he really enjoyed it!

OMG ITS KIT! Nightrider - one of moms FAVORITE shows!

MISS Penny got her first hair cut from Trina - she did GREAT!
We went back to Miss Gina for nails and toes. Michael got in on the fun, while he didn't get his toes done he enjoyed the water! We love you MISS GINA!

You look MARVELOUS!
Montessori also had a very cool in house field trip to learn about birds. We learned all about birds and how they eat. This was very interactive for the children and they really enjoyed it. We are looking forward to the egg hunt at Montessori this Saturday and Easter Sunday at Cousin Lisa's.

HAPPY SPRING BLOGGERS!

I'm five, I'm five, I'm a big boy now I'm five!

Well the moment Michael had been waiting for all year finally came. His fifth birthday!
We began our celebration in Bloomington with Uncles, Aunts, Cousins and Gramma Gorrie.
We had pizza and cake and of course presents. Michael has become very interested in everyone's age and spent most of the weekend asking people how old they were, and if that meant they were older than his dad, who is 39.

How have five years gone by!! REMEMBER MPG when we visited Aunt Lauren and little baby Jane when they lived in Chicago! Probably not, but  I do! What great memories we had there! You will forever be my buster!! SMOOCH!!!

Montessori also has a birthday celebration that they do for each child. They count the months of the year, light a candle and sing a special song for each child on their birthday. Michael got a crown and a book from all of his room two friends.

We had a small celebration the day of his birthday at home. Keeping the tradition alive Michael spent the day with his Dad, doing Dad/guy things!

We had a great  birthday party for Michael, all of his local family and friends were represented. So many kids, was so much fun!! Despite having two inches of water in the basement the night before - YIKES - we were able to pull of a pretty successful birthday party for him.He was a great host, involved all the kids, shared his toys and laughed A LOT. It was just how a five year should spend his special day.

WHAT DID YA GET MPG! Love all the kids involved!

Oh Miss Penny Pants - it wouldn't be a party with you!

LOONY TUNES CAKE

SILLY FACES!

Things got a little crazy!

Happy 5th, Michael. We love you so!
